Free Shipping! All Wood! Drexel Heritage U.S. Military Officer's Rechel Desk
This is a double-pedestal executive desk from the RISHEL series, manufactured by the renowned American luxury furniture maker DREXEL HERITAGE. This series was originally created for U.S. military officers' residences between the 1960s and 1980s.
While Drexel furniture is also used in the White House, the RISHEL series, being designed for military use, features a simple Mid-Century Modern style without the ornate decorations found in their general consumer lines, making it highly practical for use in modern Japan.
The desk is constructed from sturdy solid wood. The sides showcase the natural wood grain, while the desktop has a smooth finish to prevent pens from snagging, ideal for both studying and working.
Dimensions are: Width 124.5 cm x Depth 56 cm x Height 80 cm.
A unique feature is the right-hand pedestal: the middle and lower drawers appear separate but are actually integrated to accommodate vertical file storage, allowing for A4 ring binders. Additionally, by inserting a provided board into the groove at the very back, a secret hidden compartment can be created. While the board is not included, it can be easily made by having a board cut at a home improvement store.
Regarding condition, as is typical for antique or vintage items, there are minor scratches, chips, and stains in various places. However, there are no cracks, and the desk remains fully functional for many more years. The middle drawer on the left side has some scuffing as shown in the photos.
The back of the desk has some sponge and felt pads attached to prevent scratching walls.
The legs are screw-on for easy detachment. For shipping, they will be removed to prevent damage during transit. Please screw them back in yourself.
